Raksha Bandhan is celebrated in the month of Shravana (August) on a full moon day. On this day sister ties an ornamental thread on the wrist of her brother and applies tilak on his forehead. The brother takes a symbolic vow to protect his sister in her difficult times.
Cdt Aditya Bagal of class 8th A stated that Raksha Bandhan is celebrated by siblings of all ages and their bond of affection is extraordinary. Brother and Sister support one another and reinforce their link at every stage of life. He further told the meaning of 'Raksha' and 'Bandhan' refers to protection and a bond. Sisters pray for their brother's well being, wealth and flourishing lives.
Speaking on the occasion Mrs Shilpa Malhar, Asst Counsellor gave the mythological reference of the festival. She narrated a story of King Bali and Lord Vishnu. Wife of Lord Vishnu sent Raksha Sutra to Bali and in return gift, she asked him to liberate Lord Vishnu. This episode highlighted the pure bond of "Rakhi' which is full of love, compassion, trust, faith and loyalty. She further elucidated that Raksha Bandhan is celebrated in different ways in different parts of country. Raksha Bandhan festival refers to the protection and bond. So she asked children "How will you protect your sister, when you are present here in the school or away from your home?". So she suggested cadet to encourage their sisters to fight odd in the real world.
Indian soldiers protect our motherland and stand on LOC in adverse conditions. They down their lives for the sake of their motherland. To show the love and regards to our Indian soldiers, girls and women from across the country send rakhis and tie on their wrist.
She further stated that we must protect our motherland from pollution and global warming. We must plant more and more trees to make our earth into 'Green Paradise' Finally she advised cadets to provide help and to protect each others at the time of need.
During the 'Raksha Sutra' ceremony, H/Capt Chand Mohammad, Chief Training Officer tied Raksha Sutra to Company Captains, Mr Ajay Shirke, Head Master tied Raksha Sutra to School Cadet Vice Captain Agreem Koprekar and School Adjutant Parth Dadwal and Col Amrendra Hardas (Retd). Commandant of the school tied Raksha Sutra to School Cadet Captain Krishna Karnahke.
The programme concluded with Class Teachers and Associate Class Teacher tying Raksha Sutra to Class Monitors and Asst Class Monitors. The cadets tied rakhi to each other. The emcee of the programme was Cadet Shreyas Jambhulkar of class 10th A.
