In continuation of the ongoing tradition, the school commemorated the great martyrdom of Kargil War heroes by celebrating of 27th Anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas on Sunday, 26th July 2026 to pay homage to the dauntless soldiers who fought against all odds and gave supreme sacrifices to uphold the honour, dignity and integrity of the nation. This year Shri Vishwas Nangare Patil, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Nagpur was the Chief Guest.

As a part of the celebrations, a Route March was undertaken from Modern School, NEERI. The Route March was comprised of six contingents of three hundred Ramdandees, along with mounted column of eleven horses, marched on the melodious tunes of the ‘School Pipe & Drum Band’ through the heart of the city. The route march was flagged off by Mrs Shivani Dani Wakhare, Chairperson, Standing Committee, Nagpur Municipal Corporation, Nagpur.

Enroute, Lt Col Shobi Raj, Commanding Officer, 20 Maharashtra Battalion, NCC received the salute from marching contingent, at the saluting base, created at Shankar Nagar Square. A large section of general public thronged the roadside all along the route, showering petals on the passing columns and welcoming them with the cries of ‘Bharat Mata ki Jay.’ The Route March was culminated at Dr. Vasantrao Deshpande Memorial Hall, Civil Lines, Nagpur.

Prior to the formal commemorative function, Ramdandees presented a Guard of Honour to Shri Vishwas Nangare Patil, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Nagpur. This was followed by Wreath Laying Ceremony held in precise military decorum at a make shift ‘Amar Jawan Memorial’. The Chief Guest along with the distinguished guests, members of the School Management Committee and the Commandant laid the wreathe.

The commemorative function was held in Dr. Vasantrao Deshpande Memorial Hall with a formal welcome of the Chief Guest by Mr. Suryaratan Daga, Chairman, Central Hindu Military Education Society (CHMES), Nagpur Division. This was followed by the Ramdandees reciting the school song.

Thereafter the glimpses of the school celebrating ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’ over the last 24 years were screened.

In a commemorative speech, Col Amarendra Hardas, Commandant of the school, gave a lucid description in his PowerPoint presentation about how, why, where, when the “Kargil War” was fought. He further described the demography, topography and the climate of Kargil where the gallant soldiers overcame insurmountable odds in the hostile terrain and adverse weather condition.

“The war was fought in extreme adverse conditions which was actually a bigger challenge than the entrenched enemy”, he said. He further highlighted that the operations carried out by Indian Navy, Army and Air Force was cut above the line.

Shri Rahul Dixit, Secretary, CHMES Nagpur Division, introduced the Chief Guest.

While addressing the gathering the Chief Guest stated that the victory at Kargil was not merely a military triumph but a testament to the indomitable spirit, courage and sacrifice of the Indians Armed Forces. It is this legacy that must continue to inspire every generation.

He appealed to the students to always remember the supreme sacrifice of Armed Forces. We are living comfortable lives only because our soldiers fought with bravery, valour, courage and made supreme sacrifice to protect motherland.

He also shared his anecdotes from the Infamous terrorist’s attacks of 26/11 on Hotel Taj in Mumbai and emphasized the importance of knowing strength of oneself and the challenge to get long lasting success in any situation.

He cautioned the youth against becoming consumed by the distractions of social media and urged them to emulate the commitment and patriotism displayed by the soldiers who defended the nation’s sovereignty in the icy height of Kargil.

“When your pen, becomes your rifle.

When your shirt, becomes your uniform.

When teacher, becomes your instructor.

When the principal, becomes Commandant.

When the prayer ground, becomes parade ground

When mother, becomes your motherland”

then you become a soldier, he said.

Lastly, he commended the Ramdandees for their exceptional drill, slow march and discipline and wished them for the future.

After his speech, Shri Shailesh Joglekar, Chairman, Bhonsala Military School, Nagpur presented the Memento to the Chief Guest.

The programme was attended by a large number of office bearers and members of CHMES, Nagpur Division, serving and veteran defence service officers and prominent citizens of the city. Mrs Sumedha Chaware conducted the proceedings as the ‘Master of Ceremony. Mr Ajay Shirke, Principal, BMS Nagpur proposed the vote of thanks. The programme culminated with the ‘National Anthem’.
