The school paid homage to Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak on 1st August 2024, on his 104th death anniversary. Lokmanya Tilak was an iconic leader, revolutionary freedom fighter, teacher and Father of Indian Unrest.
Speaking on the occasion, Company Captain Prem Jethawani of class XIIth A, illustrated his life journey and said that he ignites the spark of patriotism among the Indians. He was part of the Lal-Bal-Pal triumvirate of assertive nationalist in the early 20th century. He was the main leader of the group that helped in laying the foundation of India’s Independence from British Rule. He had started two newspapers ‘Kesari & Maratha’ to oppose the British policies. Despite his imprisonment, he had continued to fight against injustice. He involved India's religious traditions in his efforts to bring out unity in the national movement.
Addressing the Ramdandees, Mr Tushar Haridas, Asst Teacher stated that Britisher's torturous and inhuman treatment over Indian people led Lokmanya Tilak to devote his life for peoples cause. He had propagated his nationalist ideas and criticized British policies through his newspaper. His innovative ideas of celebrating "Shivaji Jayanti and Ganesh Utsav” provided platform for political discussion, awakening and mobilizing youth against the British. His thought and beliefs were reflected in his famous book ‘Gita Rahasya' which is penned down during his imprisonment in ‘Madale’ Jail in 1908.
He further said that Lokmanya Tilak will be remembered for his political goals and his strong advocacy to the concept of ‘Swaraj’. He was honoured by a title ‘Lokmanya’ for his leadership. While paying tribute Mahatma Gandhi glorified him as "Makers of modern India.” Lastly, he advised Ramdandees to uphold the values of Bal Gangadhar Tilak in their life
